The darkest taste of temptation…

Fleeing from a blood oath made against her will to the tyrant king, the last place Princess Saieke expected to be trapped was in the Darkage—the land of the feared shadowed demons. Even worse, she's stuck with Archduke Drac EL Kyn—a creature of darkness and sensuality who entices her with reckless passion. The only thing she needs from the fierce warrior is his body to further her plot, certainly not the soul-searing desire he rouses.

Shadow assassin Drac must unearth the factions who murdered his king. Drawn by an irresistible hunger to the princess, he struggles to maintain distance from a woman who is forbidden to those of his race. As she navigates the traps laid for her by enemies, Drac must decide if he will claim Saieke as his mate or relinquish her to avoid embroiling his kingdom in war...

GoodReads review

"I have been poleaxed by the imagination of this high fantasy romance author. She wove an amazing, detailed, complex world filled with political intrigue and incredible powers around a dark - bordering on taboo - romance that aroused and terrified at the same time it built the foundation for an epic love story."--

I really wanted to like this book. And I may still try to start it again at some point but I found this book extremely hard to read. There's a lot of words that are made up for the book which I'm totally fine with. She even added a glossary. I just found the writing hard to follow.

The Amagarians series is a departure for author Stacy Reid, who has previously published historical romance novels. But her secret is out - not only can she write fun and exciting historicals, she's got the makings of being a great new voice in the fantasy romance genre as well. This first story in the series introduces us to a fascinating world with seven realms. While one of these realms is Earth, none of the action in this story takes place there (though it could in the future). Instead it focuses mostly on two of the other realms, the Boreas and the Darkage. The Boreas is a land of wind and mountains, with a healing elixir valued by all the realms for its power. Our heroine Princess Saieke has been promised in marriage to the king of Nuria, the kingdom of eternal fire, a man who had wrought destruction in the last great war and one Saieke is determined won't rule her realm. Her parents have arranged this marriage in hopes of strengthening their country through an alliance, but Saieke is desperate to postpone the inevitable. Fleeing in advance of his arrival, she intends to go to the Earth realm, but assassins from Mevia, the kingdom of sound, force her to take shelter in the Darkage, the kingdom of darkness and shadow. Its reputation is fearful, and Saieke isn't sure whether ending up there is any better than her arranged marriage. But when she meets Archduke Drac, a shadow assassin, she is drawn to him despite his inner demon. Saieke's one chance to avoid her arranged marriage without disgracing her kingdom is to take a lover, a consort who would then make her less desirable in marriage. When she chooses to seduce Drac, the tables are turned when he claims her instead despite the fact that mating her is against the laws of his kingdom. With traps all around her, Saieke must choose whether aligning herself with Drac will ultimately strengthen her kingdom or lead to war.

The key to a good fantasy story (at least for me) is to have compelling world building that details the kingdoms in question, hopefully without becoming too bogged down with intricate details from the start. It should give a general understanding of the land, followed by more and more information as the reader becomes comfortable with the characters, magic systems etc. This was done expertly in this story, gradually showcasing the differences between the realms and building a wonderfully detailed picture of those that this particular novel focussed on (the Darkage and the Boreas) while still giving a good introduction of some of the other realms. This made for a fascinating picture of where Saieke and Drac are from, their differences in ability and powers, and the clear understanding that under normal circumstances they would never have met. It's only because Saieke has sought refuge in the Darkage that they interact with each other, their first meeting fraught with an underlying attraction that doesn't fade as they spend more time together. In a paranormal romance, the citizens of the Darkage would be equivalent to a vampire/demon mix, with their avoidance of sunlight, their ability to exist and use shadows to move and strengthen themselves, and their propensity to bite and drink blood during sex. Each citizen living in the Darkage also carries within them a demon, a beast who they transform into in times of necessity, and this beast can take one of several forms, the form it will take in any particular being existing as a tattoo on their right shoulder. (how cool is that!). While Drac comes across as a dark and sensual creature, his darkness is tempered by his obvious care and affection for his family, something Saieke is shocked to discover as the pervading rumours of Darkage citizens give only death and destruction as their norm. He is in fact a complex and fascinating man, one who has control of the beast inside him but who has no compunction in letting him out in order to protect Saieke from threats - and there are many, as the factions who tried to assassinate her once won't be satisfied until they succeed. While Drac is a sexy alpha male type, Saieke is a more delicate woman, though still one of great internal strength and fortitude. She would not have fought her duty to marry for the good of her kingdom if she hadn't held the strong conviction that it would benefit only the invading king, and not her people. While her plan to escape to Earth has failed, her next best option is to ally herself with Drac and his kingdom, and so she sets out to do this. But along the way, her feelings for Drac become much more complicated, as do his feelings for her.

As the story proceeds, the political intrigue and action moves along at a smooth and quick pace, keeping the reader engaged and interested in the story from the beginning to the end. Drac and Saieke share several steamy scenes together, the heat and intensity between them making it obvious that Saieke's initial plan to take Drac as her consort won't be enough for either of them. I loved the two of them together, Saieke's light balancing Drac's darkness and making them a dynamic and interesting couple. There are several secondary characters introduced throughout the story, all fascinating in their own right and ones destined to have a story all their own. As a helpful guide there is a short glossary at the end of the story, detailing the seven realms and a few of the other terms used in the story that describe their magical systems. I can't wait to see what comes next in this series! 5 stars.

Eternal Darkness (The Amagarians #1) by Stacy Reid starts us in a world where Princess Saieke Shyokara decided she is not going to stick around for her arraigned marriage and the best option is the make the trek to the gate that leads to Earth and disappear. We never actually make it to Earth, instead assassins try to kill her before she gets to the land and her only option is to cross into the land controlled by Darkans. Lucky for her Archduke Drac EL Kyn decides not to kill her.

The Darkan land is a mysteries place with a pretty bad rep, this is because the people that live there share their bodies with a demon. Those demons are not nice and it’s bad if they get control! Princess Saieke meets the Darkan king who wants to open lines of communication with the outside world, but is really Archduke Drac that holds her attention, especially since she thinks he could be her ticket out of that pesky marriage she isn’t interested it, if only Drac would be more cooperative.

A couple of problems I ran into were some spelling and grammar errors that were noticeable; it wasn’t too bad but could use a bit more editing. Names were difficult and that caused them to be a bit of a distraction from the story. As the authors first book she did pretty good.

Over all this was a fast paced read that was entertaining. There was quite a bit of violence and graphic sex making this an adult book.

What can i say but another great romance novel from stacy reid, rather than the historical romance novel i am use to from this author, Eternal darkness (amagarian series) has a twist and mix of historical romance meets paranormal. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!. Even though i am a romantic fanatic i love the violent scene as well and funny enough my favorite scenes are the action ones eg1. Drake's in a meeting with his ricarkri while saieke is being attack by other darcans by smelling her fear which is kind feed their beast with he immediately start going berserks seeing red with vengeance and then annihilate her aggresors superb!!, eg.2 Saieke is before the court being force to reveal her consort so that he can be killed for is audocity of taking what was promise to king ajali of course she denied while drac could feel her destress he told her to reveal his name via their link with each other and if she is armed there will be a blood bath(not exact words), when he arrived not only did he declared she was his mate but also annihilate couple mevians (sound people who came to kidnap princess saieke) and spared one just to deliver a message to her king touch my mate and die(not exact words). when i thought how is she going to top this book since it's a series there's a sneak peak of drac's sister's book OMG CAN'T WAIT!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars 🖤 Princess Saieke & Archduke Drac 🖤

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/6.
🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5.

I loved this so much. I couldn't put this down, it captivated me from the beginning.
Princess Saieke El Shyokara turned out to be a great fighter and i love a h who knows what she is doing. I loved her compassionate heart and her mischievousness where Drac was concerned.
Drac El Kyn, an Archduke and basically the right hand man of King Gidon, was a delight. He is broody, dark and everything i wanted from someone from The Darkage, Kingdom of Darkness and shadows.
I loved how they both fit well together and i loved Drac's beast and their possessiveness of Saieke. Drac was willing to wage a war between the kingdoms if someone were to take his mate from him and i ate that up.
The sexy times between them were great. The beast came out to play a couple times and i loved how he loved her.

There's also a plot assassination going on which i liked. The conclusion of Saieke's "quest" was really good. I was cheering for Saieke when she stood up for what she believed and i was championing Drac when he came in and took Kingdom Boreas by storm.
I wish there was an epilogue in regards to Drac & Saieke and not from Saieke's mother but i believe they will show up in future books and i had a wonderful time with this story and i can't wait to read the next one.

My ideal book is a supernatural romance it needs to be an 18+ 😜. I need wars, sex, swearing all the good stuff and this book has it all not to mention well rounded characters strong and fierce. The world is beautiful and there as plenty of descriptive scenes to get the imagination going. You can get so caught up in the story telling and that you forget the world around you. I'm not going to say a single thing about how it starts or what the jist of this book is in this review your just going to have to go and see what all the hype is about, you can thank me later.. I am a big fan of the fae chronicles and the Lord's of the underworld so if you have enjoyed these same books or similar you will love eternal darkness. I hope I've helped you in you decision to buy. A big massive 5 stars from me 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent story; sexy, imaginative and unique
Reviewed in Canada on November 13, 2016
I give this five stars for the story, but only about three for the writing/editing.
When I stumbled across this book I was intrigued, but not really sure what to expect. I must admit, I did struggle to get into it at first, but I quickly became sucked into the story......
Learning all the strange terms and names was a chore for me, and is partly why I found the book difficult to get into at first. (I am still guessing as to how to pronounce the heroine's name) However, once I got past that, I soon found myself fascinated by the imaginative world the author has created. The author did an excellent job of "painting" a picture of this world, and of the Darkage in particular. I found her descriptions to be both vivid, and richly, detailed, making it easy to visualize the different scenes and settings. Reading this felt a bit like watching a movie unfold in my minds eye, which made the action scenes all the more exciting and suspenseful, and the sex scenes stirringly erotic. I found the characters to be well rounded and complex. I enjoyed the hero, Drac, in particular. He was a passionate and compelling mix of monster and man, and I found his character had great depth. Likewise, I was fond of the heroine, who was intelligent, thoughtful and had plenty of dimension. The chemistry between them literally leapt from the pages, and I found their relationship profoundly moving. I thought they were a perfect compliment to one another.
Unfortunately, there is a great need for editing with this book. The many missing words and jumbled sentences were DEFINITELY annoying, and I frequently found myself jarred from the story because of it. The editing was sloppy no doubt, but reading this is not enough of a struggle that it should deter from picking this up.
In summary....This is an entertaining and uniquely interesting story, which offers the reader plenty of drama, political intrigue, action and suspense, as well as romance. If you are a lover of PNR, I would certainly recommend you read this book. I will be purchasing the next book in the series.

First time reading a story from this author. Wow. Amazing. What a different perspective regarding the different realms and perceptions we usually have on demons, vampires, physics. Fabulous too that the heroine is strong and not flacks, a true match for Drac. Wow can I have a Drac too!
